When Becky isn't wowing audiences with her blazing grooves and soaring melodic lines, she is likely to be tramping about in various geologically-happening spots. It's what geologists do, after all. That's her (on the left) in Montana last summer, for example. She's also known to hang out in the Baja California desert, the Salton Sea area, and spent a wonderful three months doing research in New Zealand last spring, while on leave from her teaching at the University of Oregon. Fortunately, she also found a lively Irish session at a local pub in Christchurch, and returned to us loaded with new material.
Becky is from Massachusetts originally, and her musical tastes still reflect the music and dance of that region. Like all of us, she was a contradancer before she ever played for a dance, and (again, like all of us) occasionally would like to be on the floor and playing the music at the same time!
That's Fred and Becky at a recent rehearsal, sharing a light moment. Hmmm.....but then, our rehearsals include almost nothing BUT light moments.... Lucky us!
