Recording Project Updates

September 9, 2006 : If you've been checking this page regularly, you must be either annoyed or increasingly amused at how long this is taking. We choose to be the latter. This home-brew recording project has been one hell of a learning experience for all us, involving everything from musicianship to organization to studio tecnique. But we may be getting the hang of it, at last! Give a listen to The Blarney Pilgrim, which we just finished (below). We hesitate to post goals...but come winter we may have enough presentable material for some sort of CD or EP. Hopefully...

NOTE: If you use a dial-up internet connection, it will take a few minutes to download these clips. Please be patient! Digital music is kind of, well...BIG...so there isn't much of any way to make the process quicker other than to make the selections even shorter.

Hole in the Hedge [1Mb]: (1/1/05)The first of a 3-tune set, a very sweet, smooth jig.

The Maid Behind the Bar [1.1Mb]: (1/2/05)Popular traditional Irish reel, with a nice intro from Fred (flute) and Alan (Mandolin). We play this one with the ever-popular Julia Delany, and John Stenson's.

NEW!! The Blarney Pilgrim [6.8Mb]: (9/9/2006) A Jolly three-part Irish jig, played a lot but one we never seem to get tired of. Beware, the mp3 is large if you're on a dial-up connection. (NB: Get broadband. It's worth it....). Features Becky on fiddle, John on accordion and guitar, Fred on Ullian pipes. Alan was working a masonry gig at Silver Falls State Park while we were recording this, so he's not on it. But he will be for the CD version.
