Christmas Events

ALL EVENTS ARE FREE OF CHARGE

Chamonix Christmas Market

From December 16th to 18th, 2017 : 16:00 – 19:00

From December 19th to 30th, 2017 : 10:00 – 20:00

For two weeks the town of Chamonix will become an authentic Christmas market. The central streets will be lined with over 30 decorative stalls with local, regional and international crafts and specialties. There will also be live entertainment every evening, a Christmas train and fairytale illuminations. There may even be a special visit from Santa himself...

Events at the Christmas market

Santa's Grotto

From 16th December to 24th December - 3PM - 7PM - Come and meet Father Christmas in his house, have your picture taken together and give him your letters and wish lists!

Christmas Parade

Sunday 24th December - 6PM

A Christmas parade full of community spirit! You are all invited to come and take part in the performance alongside professional artists. Families are welcome (adults and children over 7 years old). Enroll at the tourist office (limited number of places) and meet up at 4 pm to get dressed up and rehearse.

The parade will include three professional performances:
The 25d - They look a bit like Father Christmas, if you imagine Father Christmas as a rapper, with swagger!
The toy soldiers - These well-trained toy soldiers on parade will obey every order.
Deer of love parade - Forming a spectacular fresco of light, these three herds of deer will be performing astonishing dances such as an ode to love and a tribute to nature.

Other Festive Parades

Friday 22nd December - 5PM - Djacque le notaire - A burlesque marching band with natural energy which will take you sailing through an ocean of music (Jazz, Eastern music, not forgetting a few famous Christmas tunes for children)!

Monday 25th December - 5PM - The Elves - Gracious and mischievous luminous dancers… A wacky party packed with eccentric elves, a little cheeky but so full of magic…

Friday 29th December - 5PM - The Poppins - A thrilling adventure featuring actor musicians, acrobats, stilt-walkers, a smooth-talking vocalist, a singer, and a tap dancer...

Skiing Events

Torchlight Descents

Wednesday 3 January 2018 at 7 PM, Wednesday 14 February 2018 at 7 PM, Wednesday 7   March 2018 at 7 PM.

Come along and watch the instructors of ESF Chamonix put on a torch light spectacle on the slopes of the Savoy! The torchlight parades are a tradition in Chamonix with entertainment, vin chaud and hot chocolate to be enjoyed by all!

Night Skiing

From 11th January to 08th February, every Thursday between 8.30 PM and 10 PM.

Night skiing at the Tourchet piste in Les Houches has a fun and friendly atmosphere, enhanced by some music and a bar serving hot chocolate and vin chaud.

Access to the Tourchet draglift is free of charge for those that wish to ski or snowboard under the stars. On certain nights there may also be the opportunity to try out “snow toys” such as the snowscoot, or “vintage” equipment, such as old fashioned skis and télémarks.

Musilac Du Mont Blanc

 

Musilac & Chamonix-Mont-Blanc have joined forces to create a new Pop-Rock festival in the most exceptional location! 15 000 spectators will be expected across three pumping evenings of famous local and international acts. The event begins after your day on the slopes and is over by midnight.

Montagne de Spectacles

Friday 15th December 18:30 at the Majestic

Le P'tit Bal Bonumeur,  a cultural event full of entertainment and music.

Tickets cost €12 full price, or you can buy a family pack for €31.00

Weekly Events

Latin Party at the Maison des Artistes

 the heart of Maison des Artistes will be beating to the rhythm of Latino Music, your first dance moves will be guided by professional dancer Paola Ballart from 9:30 pm.

Chamonix Pioniers Hockey Matches

27th December / 3rd, 7th, 12th, 19th, 23rd, 30th January / 6th February - Games start at 20:30

Tickets are 14€ for adults and 8€ for children (free for children under eight years) for league matches. For friendly matches the prices are 8/5€. Tickets can be purchased on site.

There is a bar so you can get a drink whilst you watch the game, they also serve hot food and snacks. At certain matches the school bake sales are something to look forward to, so make sure you have small change for a good cause, and great cake.

Also remember to take some warm clothes and shoes, hats and gloves - you are going to be sitting in a large freezer in a ski resort for a while!

Chamonix En Rouge

Friday 2nd March

Join the ski instructors of the ESF Chamonix in celebrating one of their oldest traditions, and one of the biggest nights of the year!

The Place du Triangle de l'Amitié, facing the Maison de la Montagne, is "party central" as the ESF crew "paint the town red"!

ON THE PROGRAM:

Street parade, big tombola, face paint for children, snacks, tartiflette, sound & light show, music concert.
The raffle will be drawn around 6pm.

The parade will start at 5:30pm with the children and their ESF instructors leading the way to Place Triange de l'Amitié in front of the Maison de la Montagne.

6:30pm - the tombola will kick off (tickets can be bought on site and all profits go to the ESF's emergency fund).
8pm - the procession of ski instructors will set off towards the ice skating rink, followed by street artists.
8:30pm - hockey match with the Red Wings, free for everyone.

Art Exhibition at QuartzBar and Albert 1er Salons, Chamonix

Brylinska exhibition

 

Bron in July 1966 Brylinska (Géraldine) exhibits regularly in Paris, Geneva and is planning a future exhibition in London in 2020. The exhibition then runs through the whole winter season until early May 2017. She likes to confront the motifs she chooses in the various valleys of the Alps.

Outdoor Ice Skating

 

The ice rink of Les Houches is an outdoor artificial ice rink, situated in the heart of the village and is open throughout the winter months from late December to the end of March.

The ice rink has a coffee shop where you can enjoy a hot drink!
