Chamonix is a hive of activity in the summer months with multiple sporting and music events throughout the season. Chamonix Summer Events include Marathons, Climbing events Festivals and much more, all FREE for spectators!

Marathon du Mont Blanc

27th to 30th June 2019

The first of Chamonix's Summer Events 2019 is a trail event consisting of 8 races that  for 4 days see the Chamonix Valley vibrate with the rhythm of the races, 30 000 people will be in Chamonix to attend or participate in this event, and everything is done to welcome runners and spectators in the most amazing surroundings!

A few of the 8 races taking place are the 80km, 42km, 23km, and the KM Vertical du Mont-Blanc (vertical km)

Fete de la Musique

21st June 

More than a music festival, the Chamonix Fête de la Musique is a free event that spills out from the bars and restaurants onto the streets and encompasses every type of music imaginable, from local amateur teen bands to professional classical musicians and from club DJ’s to traditional folk bands.

Launched in 1982 by the French Ministry for Culture, the Fete is different from a music festival in that all the concerts and performances are free to the public and none of the artists are paid. The Fete de la Musique is now celebrated all over the world, where it is more commonly referred to as World Music Day. It is definitely one of the not-to-be-missed events of the summer social calendar!

Chamonix Yoga Festival

5th to 7th July 2019

Three-day yoga festival in the mountains, yoga, massage & healthy eating!

Internationally renowned yoga teacher Simon Park, as well as a host of 17 European yoga teachers,  will be giving lessons throughout the festival in English and French. A choice of 14 different yoga styles, meditation, and dance classes are on offer, as well as a relaxing concert of healing sounds.

There will also be a workshop on how to make homemade raw chocolate and another one on Ayurvedic medicine. An organic-raw coffee shop & an organic and vegan lunch menu will also be available for a healthy break. All events will take place at the Majestic, and free outdoor classes at the Place du Triangle de l'Amitie or at Altitude.

Various passes are on offer, with prices ranging from in the region of 10€ to 230€ for the unlimited 3 days pass.

Arc'teryx Alpine Academy

4th to 7th July 2019

The 8th Arc’teryx Alpine Academy unites alpine enthusiasts, mountain guides and professional athletes in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. The event aims to create a space where beginners and experts alike can gain alpine
knowledge through top-notch clinics, experience sharing and respect for the alpine environment.

Climbing World Cup

11th - 13th July

Among the major climbing events in the world, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is an unmissable event.

On an artificial structure, the climbing wall is placed outside, at the foot of Mont Blanc, so that all can benefit from the rare and exceptional panorama that the Mont Blanc chain offers.

Chamonix invites the public (more than 20,000 people), to come to admire the greatest champions during these three days when the competitions are open access with a fantastic atmosphere guaranteed!

Cosmojazz Festival

21st to 29th July 2018

The most beautiful concert hall in the world in the most beautiful valley in the world! Chamonix was the birthplace of Cosmojazz festival in summer 2010, with the idea of sharing amazing landscapes and dizzying cosmic sounds in a friendly atmosphere.

In Chamonix, Les Houches, Le Tour, on the edge of a glacier, at the foot of a rock face, in the heart of mountain pasture, everyone knows that jazz is above all the music of improvisation and adapts to the places and audience.

UTMB

(The Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc®)

26th August to 1st September 2019

Unique in its kind, this event crosses 3 countries on foot (France, Italy, and Switzerland), covers 166 kilometers and a 9,400-meter climb in one fell swoop.

Five races over 6 days ranging from a very respectable OCC which covers 55km distance and 3,500 meter incline to the The Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® which covers an incredible 171km with  a staggering 10,000 meter incline, the original and the king of the races the UTMB must be completed in a maximum of 46 hours, with the most accomplished athletes crossing line in under 24 hours!

With races starting and finishing in Chamonix through-out the event, the town is a hive of activity and emotion as the exhausted athletes cross the finish line!! This really is an event not to be missed! For a full list of all the races and the race schedule for 2019 please visit their website
