Rural Festivals

Celebrating local produce, Corsica’s rural festivals offer a fantastic insight into the Corsican people and their love for the island.

5th and 6th May 2018 - A Fiera di U Casgiu is a rural cheese and local produce fair in Venaco. For 20 years, this festival has promoted pastoralism. Exhibitions and sales of farm cheeses and other Corsican artisanal products are on the program. This fair aims to promote, support and enhance the farm economy.

7th and 8th July 2018 - For those of you who love wine. The Fiera di U Vinu in the heart of the village of Luri, invites you to taste wines from across Corsica. This festival is also a major gathering for the island’s wine producers.

21st and 22nd July 2018 - At the Fiera di l’Alivu in Montegrosso around 10,000 visitors honour the olive. With exhibitions demonstrating olive production over the years and artisans selling refreshments and local produce olive lovers will be delighted by the products on offer at this local festival.

Music festivals

26th to 30th June 2018
Ajaccio hosts a jazz festival every year at this time showcasing some of the most exciting international and French artists on the jazz scene today.

Fête de la Musique – 21st June 2018
Numerous free live music events are held each year across the island with the main events taken place in Bastia.

29th and 30th June 2018
Rock' Inseme in Biguglia is a rock and pop music festival bringing together recognised artists and up-and-coming bands.

Calvi on the Rocks -  6th - 11th July 2018
Calvi On The Rocks is an electronic music festival in Corsica. Effortlessly cool and musically diverse, the lineup comprises the freshest DJs from the worlds of house, techno, soul and disco.  Read more here!

20th to 27th July 2018
The amphitheatre in the village of Patrimonio is the setting for the Nuits de la Guitare, this popular festival that takes place every July and draws stars from the world of guitar, be it jazz, flamenco, blues or rock. Recent guest performers include Jeff Beck, Joe Cocker, George Benson and Simple Minds. 

Porto Latino in St Florent – 2nd to 5th August 2018

Festival du Tango in Bonifacio – 16th to 24th June 2018  - A week-long event attracting some of the finest tango dancers and guitarists, with street performers as well as shows in bars, restaurants and in the old Citadel. For more detail take a look at their website!

Historical events

Bastille Day - 14th July 2018
A nationwide celebration to commemorate the French Revolution and the end of the 'Ancien Regime' with various parades, night time animations and firework displays.

21st July 2018 - A Notte di a Memoria - the Relève du Gouverneur is a re-enactment of the arrival of the French governor. The Old Port of Bastia goes back in time and becomes a scene from more than 500 years. The historical spectacle traces the handover of power between the governors of Bastia, appointed by Genoa and the new governor. Cccompanied by a procession of 150 extras the new govenour crosses the streets of the old town and Port to the place du dungeon. Demonstrations of flag throwers, drumming and other activities take place at the start and finish of the procession. The dancers, musicians, actors, archers, fencers, troubadours, flag throwers, and illuminations of the citadel are all unmisable.

Les Fêtes Napoléoniennes in Ajaccio – 13th to 15th August 2018
Ajaccio celebrates the August birthday of Corsica's most famous son (on 15th) with period processions and a fireworks display.
