Why Chamonix is the height of Luxury!

Looking for a luxurious retreat this year? Then allow me to introduce to you Chamonix and inform you as to why so many people are seeing it as one of the most luxurious and elegant places to visit.

Draped in sophistication, beauty and glamour Chamonix has everything you could possibly want from a luxury getaway. Chamonix has become one of the most prestigious places to visit throughout the entirety of France. A combination of exquisite restaurants, bars, shops, attractions and views have all contributed to the resort being beyond compare. Attracting people of all ages from all over, Chamonix has come a long way since its origin, paving the way for luxury resorts everywhere.

Unfortunately in the modern day the word ‘luxury’ gets thrown around a lot. It is used so frequently that it can lose its original power and meaning. So many resorts are now boldly claiming their 2*, 3* suites are complete with luxurious extras such as extra towels, toiletries and room service. However when looking up the actual definition of the word you’ll find it actually means “a state of great comfort or elegance, especially when involving great expense”. Now, luxury may not necessarily be measured by cost but it is measured by other factors such as services, food & drink, ambience, lifestyle, quality, charm and of course location. Not just a few little extras.

Luxury is still here...

I think it is fair to say then that although the word ‘luxury’ is overused and misused, when you really look into it you can see how true luxury is not just a thing of the past. It is here, right now, you just have to find it. If a resort such as Chamonix can not only give you what you want and need but can also surpass this then this is luxury defined. If it can offer you world class food and drink then this is luxury. If it can offer a location like no other then this is luxury. Looking out the window you are able to gaze upon the majestic views that Chamonix has to offer.

In the summer you are able to see the most luscious green hills, bluest lakes and clearest skies. In the winter however, Chamonix transformed into a snowy paradise. Last year alone had 649cm of snowfall. Causing the village and valley to morph into a winter wonderland. Chalets covered in snow, trees draped in white and lakes sparkling with the reflection of the cold winter sun. Whatever the season, Chamonix can always offer and more importantly deliver a complete luxurious holiday combining all the necessary features that makes for a holiday you will never forget.

A little about Chamonix...

So now that that’s cleared up, let’s talk about Chamonix and why it is the definition of luxury. Situated in the north-westerly section of the Alps just 15km from both the Italian and Swiss border, Chamonix has the most breathtaking views of the highest mountain in the Alps, Mont Blanc. When visiting Chamonix you are immediately greeted by breathtaking views. The kind of views that are so immersive and impressive you may enter a state of sheer astonishment. Although, of course a very popular resort, if you were to ask a few of your friends if they had been we can assume the answer would sadly be a no. As this is the case when you arrive you can indeed indulge yourself in a feeling of pride and privilege. Nobody will hold that against you; maybe just don’t gloat too much. The rise of popularity and tourism slowly began since it was originally ‘discovered’ by two Englishmen in 1741, Dr. Richard Pococke and Mr. William Windham.

A little more about Chamonix...

Since then Chamonix has gained a reputation for itself as one of the most luxurious and greatest winter sport resorts around. Due to its numerous and impressive ski areas like the oldest in France, The Aiguille du Midi. Chamonix was also the first ever site for the winter Olympics in 1924. With sights that belong on postcards and the silver screen it is hard to imagine a more beautiful place where you can ski. There is something to be said about skiing in the French Alps that confidently and proudly oozes luxury. Maybe it’s because we associated it with the likes of James Bond, effortlessly flying down snow covered mountains with a martini in one hand and a girl in the other. Whatever the reason may be, there is no denying that the sport itself is dripping with delicate class.

Although a resort filled with fantastic sporting activities, don’t be put off thinking that the people there are all adrenaline junkies and sports mad. After all, this is all about the luxurious aspects of Chamonix. Even with all the sporting options available the ambiance and feel of the village is peaceful and calm, with an emphasis on the tranquil way of life.

The Best Food & Drink around

When you think of luxury, fine dining is one of the first things that springs to mind. Being treated to some of the best dishes around, cooked by some of the most elite chefs around in a location that is truly unrivaled. As soon as you enter ‘Chamonix Restaurants’ into Google the first suggestion they offer is ‘Michelin’. This I’m sure will give you an idea of the kind of restaurants you can expect to find nestled away within this alluring village. However, you may prefer a more personal and intimate dining experience within the comfort of your own Chalet. If this is your wish then we at Amazon Creek offer a personal chef who can prepare for you an exquisite breakfast, and evening meal. Not to mention the added option of a hostess or nanny who will help you in any way they can to ensure you have a perfect day. No meal is complete without a drink to both accompany and improve the food you are blissfully enjoying. Whether it’s a local bottle of vintage red wine or a cocktail too fancy to pronounce, there is a fantastic choice for any type of occasion. Not to mention that if you decide to stay in one of our Chalets you are greeted by a bottle of Bollinger Champagne, a well stocked wine cellar and regional cheeses to perfectly partner a wine of your choosing.

Luxurious Chalets

In keeping with the luxurious and elegant feel of the resort our three unique Chalets ideally built within the private woodlands of Les Bossons provide the perfect balance of modern chic and authentic rustic charm as well as displaying an individual style. Chalet Amazon Creek and Chalet Baloo each has 5 bedrooms and can sleep up to 10 guests, both with fantastic spa facilities, outdoor hot tubs and cinema rooms to name just a few if their luxurious facilities. The appropriately named Baby Bear Chalet sleeps 6, and of course still includes luxury facilities such as a cinema room, outdoor hot tub, Plasma Screens and a sauna. Knowing that luxury lies within the finer details not just the facilities, each Chalet comes with a welcome pack including including a bottle of Bollinger Champagne in the summer months and a private chef providing a fine dining experience in the winter months, as well as fresh flowers on arrival. When it comes to the décor, each room is carefully and individually designed. Keeping the rustic & modern theme alive. You will be able to have an authentic Alpine experience whilst staying in any of our Chalets.

So much to do, so little time

Being the height of luxury, Chamonix has abundant activities for you to take part in. One of the activities that is steeped in luxury would of course be Golf. Personally I am not much of a golfer, it maybe a patience thing, however after seeing the 18 hole course and the views surrounding it I could be easily persuaded otherwise. Walking around a beautifully designed course, looking at some of the most stunning mountains and hillsides around seems like a pretty great way of spending the day and it would seem I am not alone. The course attracts many amateurs and pro’s from all over, due to its extraordinary sights. Of course golf is not the only activity on the list, you can also snowboard, ski, hike, climb, abseil, paraglide and enjoy some white water rafting to name just a few. Golf in the summer, skiing in the winter, there could be worse ways to spend the year...

Perhaps your true passion is for something a little less sporty and little more therapeutic, such as shopping. For so many of us, myself included, shopping on holiday is a must. Perhaps it’s because spending money on holiday doesn’t really count, does it? No matter what you decide to tell yourself, Chamonix is a shopping haven that will never disappoint. It has everything from craft shops displaying fascinating handmade items to some of the biggest brands around such as Moncler and Ogier.

We all know how exhausting shopping can be if done right so after a day of treating yourself and possibly others you may be in need of some treatment yourself. Luckily for you Chamonix is home to some of the best Spa’s around. With many luxurious options to choose from you are sure to find something to suit any need. If you fancied getting back to your Chalet and indulging in a massage or beauty treatment then of course this can also be arranged. Personally, enjoying a full body massage, from the comfort of your own room sounds like an ideal way to spend an evening.

Because you are worth it

There are many reasons why choosing a luxury retreat this holiday season makes so much sense. We work hard all year round and deserve to treat ourselves to the finer things in life. Such as being waited on hand and foot, spoiled rotten by the absolute best food and drink and being pampered. If indeed our bodies really are temples then surely they deserve the best of the best right? I am not talking avocado, wheat grass and kale health drinks here, I am talking the best cheeses in the world, the best red wine from all over and of course the best desserts around. The kind of mouth-watering, luxurious chocolate desserts that can only be found in the Swiss Alps, prepared for you by a Michelin starred chef and served to you in a restaurant with views over the mountains and valleys. Let us not forget that real luxury comes with comfort too. Beds so comfortable you will feel as if you are sleeping on a cloud. Hot tubs and Jacuzzi’s so relaxing you won’t want to get out and of course a setting that inspires both awe and wonder.

For me I can’t help thinking that finding a Chalet in the picturesque woodland region of Chamonix, through the trees and surrounded by the Alps, glowing from the warmth of candles in the windows is the most luxurious thing imaginable. After all, the kind of experiences available to you at Chamonix are both unforgettable and unlike anything else out there. Whether you are swimming in an outdoor pool with views of the Alps, or whizzing down the sun kissed slopes, you are sure to be doing it with a smile on your face and a spring in your step.
